Terri White, District Testing Coordinator/Teacher Incentive Allotment Lead for Levelland ISD and Levelland alumni, was inducted into the Texas Tech Ring of Honor this past Sunday as a part of the 1993 Lady Raiders National Championship team.
She served as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the team that went 31-3, winning the Southwest Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships, and then going on a run in the NCAA Tournament to eventually beat Ohio State 84-82 to win the National Championship.
The group had an official induction over the weekend and along with that they were honored multiple times, a special experience that Terri White spoke about.
“Friday started with Lady Raider practice and then a locker room dedication to Coach Marsha Sharp. Saturday was tailgating and getting introduced on the (football) field. The stadium was electric, and we were on the sideline when Rodriguez got his interception,” White said. “We had more bonding time after the game. And then came the ceremony for the Ring of Honor. What a truly special time supported by so much of my personal family and friends. We got to lead the team for the walkout and then came the recognition on the court before the amazing Lady Raider fans. To cap off the weekend, the Lady Raiders took care of the Razorbacks with a ‘W.’” What a cool weekend for White to be a part of, and an awesome honor to receive, which is one of many in her lifetime.
As a Levelland Loboette player, she won two basketball State Championships, and then she played for Louisiana Tech in college and won a National Championship along with making two Final Four appearances.
She carried on that success as a coach at Texas Tech before returning to Levelland as an Assistant Coach to Head Coach Dean Weese, where she won a State Championship in 1996-97.
Following that, she was the Loboettes Head Coach from 2000-2013, where she had a record of 300-132.
Congratulations to Terri White on adding yet another basketball accolade. The Levelland community is extremely proud not only for your induction, but to be home to a State and National Champion every day.
