Following an executive special session of the Levelland City Council on Tuesday, Tushar Bhakta was appointed by the council to fill the District B seat.
The District B seat has been vacant since the passing of council member Max Ledesma.
The council solicited letters of interest from residents of District B to fill the vacant seat, with four submitting letters. Each was interviewed at the Tuesday night special meeting.
Bhakta is scheduled to be sworn in at the city council meeting set for June 1 at 6 p.m.
