Letter to the Editor,
My name is Angie Covarrubias, and I am honored to serve as the new Special Events Coordinator for the Levelland Chamber of Commerce. I was born and raised here, graduated from Levelland High School, attended South Plains College, and transferred and earned my degree from Lubbock Christian University in 2003. This role is especially meaningful to me and I look forward to learning even more about our community while helping lead our tourism, lodging, and Keep Levelland Beautiful initiatives.
One of the simplest ways we can all contribute to a stronger, more attractive community is by maintaining our properties. Clean, wellkept neighborhoods not only improve curb appeal but also help protect property values, reduce fire hazards, and create a welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike.
As we move into the growing season, I would like to remind residents of the City of Levelland's weed and property maintenance requirements. City ordinance states that property owners, occupants, and those in control of property may not allow weeds to exceed 6 inches in height, nor allow the accumulation of waste materials, tumbleweeds, or dead vegetation on their property. The ordinance also gives the City authority to abate weeds that exceed 12 inches and pose an immediate danger to public health or safety.
Keeping our yards, lots, and public-facing areas maintained is a small effort that makes a big difference. Whether it's mowing a lawn, removing weeds, or picking up debris, each of us plays a role in keeping Levelland a community we are proud to call home.
I look forward to working alongside residents, businesses, volunteers, and community leaders to continue making Levelland a beautiful place to live, work, and visit.
Together, we can keep Levelland beautiful—one property, one neighborhood, and one act of community pride at a time.
