Cristal Isaacks, the library coordinator for Levelland ISD, took office June 1 as president of the Texas Classroom Teachers Association (TCTA).
Isaacks was elected during the 2025 TCTA Convention in Austin. She served as president-elect during the 2025-26 school year and will now serve as TCTA’s statewide president during the 2026-27 school year, when TCTA celebrates its 100th anniversary. She will serve as immediate past president during the 2027-28 school year.
During this three-year term on the TCTA Board of Directors, Isaacks will help guide the association’s efforts as it works to enhance the teaching profession and provide a full array of services, including legislative advocacy, to its members.
“I am honored, humbled and proud,” Isaacks said. “As I begin my service as president of the Texas Classroom Teachers Association, I realize what a privilege it is to represent dedicated teachers who show up every day to inspire, encourage and change children's lives across our great state. I look forward to advocating for Texas educators, celebrating our successes, and ensuring our voices are heard. I want to meet challenges head-on and fight to make teaching in Texas great again. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve Texas teachers who make a difference for every student, every day.”
A TCTA member since 1989, Isaacks previously served on the 10-member board of directors as the Curriculum & Instruction chair. She has served on the Board in several other positions over the years and on TCTA’s Advisory Council, representing District 17. She is actively involved in Levelland CTA, the association’s local affiliate, where she currently serves as president and is also the NHS Chair and YELL Sponsor, and is the chair of the Levelland Chamber of Commerce Board. She won the Levelland Chamber Volunteer Hero Award in 2025.
“This prestigious statewide leadership position recognizes Cristal's dedication to public education and her commitment to serving educators and students across Texas,” Levelland ISD Superintendent Dr. Donald Heseman said. “While she will represent teachers throughout the state in this elected role, she remains a valued member of the Levelland ISD family. We are proud to see one of our own recognized for her leadership and honored to support her as she serves educators across Texas while continuing to call Levelland home.”
The Texas Classroom Teachers Association is the leading teacher association in Texas. Founded in 1927, TCTA is a nonprofit, independent professional association based in Austin. It is the only statewide teachers’ association that limits membership to those directly involved in classroom teaching or teaching support, including librarians, counselors and teacher aides.
