Levelland HS,MS Hold Tennis Camp

The Levelland High School and Middle School tennis teams hosted the four-day “Pack Tennis Camp” on July 20-23, helping incoming first through ninth graders develop their skills and fundamentals.

The camp was instructed by LHS tennis coaches, Jeffrey Braziel and Chad Lawson, as well as the middle school coach, Cade Chambers. Tennis players from LHS and LMS also assisted.

The camp was from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the LHS Tennis Courts.

The camp divided players by age groups to focus on different skills, including a “pup” section for grades first through fifth and Lobos and Loboettes for grades sixth through ninth.

Throughout the week, campers practiced the fundamentals of tennis, including forehand and backhand strokes, serving, volleying, footwork and match play. Coaches incorporated drills and games to help players improve their technique while building confidence and sportsmanship on the court.

In addition to developing tennis skills, the camp gave younger athletes an opportunity to learn from current players, who demonstrated drills, offered encouragement and served as mentors throughout the week. The annual camp helps introduce elementary and middle school students to the program while preparing returning players for the upcoming fall tennis season.

As the camp wrapped up, participants left with improved skills, new friendships and a greater understanding of the game. Coaches hope the experience will encourage more young athletes to continue playing tennis and become part of the Levelland program in the future.
