The Smyer city council will be holding a regular meeting on Aug. 17 at 6:30 p.m.
The council is expected to review and discuss Ordinances 1 and 2 and amendments.
Discussions are scheduled regarding the upkeep and mowing of Smyer Cemetery as well the Smyer Volunteer Fire Department.
The council is expected to consider and take action to amend city council meetings, record city council meetings, and charging fees for record requests.
Additionally, the council is expected to take action on an Ordinance approving a negotiated settlement between the Executive Committee of Cities served by Atmos and Atmos Energy regarding the company’s 2026 Rate Review Mechanism (RRM) Filing.
Council members are expected to hear reports from the fire department and water/ wastewater facilities and approve the financial report.
The council is expected to review and discuss capital improvement and comprehensive plans and conduct a budget work session for FY Oct. 1 - Sept. 20, 2027. Items include a proposed tax rate, take a record vote, schedule public hearings and discuss the proposed utility rate.
