The Panhandle Cutting Horse Association (CHA) will be holding a competition at Mallet Event Center on Sept. 5-7.
Cutting is a unique Western sport that combines athleticism, strategy and a lot of excitement.
Cutting is a timed event that showcases the partnership between horse and rider that involves separating a cow from a herd and keep it from returning to the herd. Once the rider has selected the cow, the horse takes over much of the action using its speed, agility, balance and instincts to anticipate the movement of the cow.
The result is an exciting competition filled with quick turns, sudden stops, athletic horses and unpredictable moments to keep spectators watching.
The Panhandle CHS is an affiliate of the National Cutting Horse Association.
