Texas Tech University opened its 2026 fall semester with a record-setting 45,812 students, an increase of more than 3,859 from last year, marking the fifth consecutive year of enrollment growth.
Over the last two years, TTU student body growth has exceeded 12%.
“We have been strategic in how we recruit students, communicate the value of a Texas Tech education, and make that education accessible,” Texas Tech President Lawrence Schovanec said. “Our faculty and staff provide an exceptional academic experience and a level of personal support that distinguishes Texas Tech.
“Students who visit our campus experience a community and culture that is difficult to replicate. Reaching 45,000 students is an important milestone, but as we grow, our priority will continue to be student success as reflected in degrees awarded and our increasing graduation rates.”
The university welcomed more than 9,552 first-time college students, also setting a university record.
Student success rates have also improved, show Texas Tech’s fouryear graduation rate at 51%, while its six-year graduation rate is almost 70%.
