Hitting the half-century mark, the Anton Bulldogs scored 50 points in the win versus the Southland Eagles, 50-28.
Senior quarterback Shooter Campos goes 8/8 through the air, while finding three different receivers for touchdowns in sophomore Cash Saterfield, freshman Griffin Duncan, junior Xavi Avalos.
Complementing the passing game was the run game which had production from multiple players, including non-running backs.
The Bulldogs scored four touchdowns in the run game alone as Campos displayed a dual- threat ability, scoring one touchdown; Saterfield earning one touchdown as a runner; and sophomore running back Isaiah Alafa found big creases to find the end zone twice while rushing for 102 yards on four carries.
The passing game and running game being in concert is exactly how the Bulldogs Head Coach Tell Rutledge wants the offense to flow.
“We got our ground game going early, it made for easy throws,” Rutledge said about the run and pass game going hand to hand.
The physicality that was displayed in the run game showed up in the on defense with the Bulldogs consistently getting the backfield to push the Eagles back behind the chains, totaling -23 tackles-for-loss yards.
“We’re just trying to capitalize on that team speed and our defensive ends,” Rutledge said. “Xavi Avalos and Kaden Starns, they just got after it.”
The Bulldogs will look to have the same results next week as they continue to play on the road against the Loop Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 3.
