New intern joins News-Press staff

Levelland News-Press intern Jaxon Fox recently joined the editorial staff to provide coverage in the Hockley and Cochran area.

Fox, who is from Waxahachie, is currently attending Texas Tech as a journalism major. He will cover an array of events and topics, with a target of sports.

“I’m going to be covering a little bit of everything to gain as much experience as possible, but my main topic of interest is definitely sports,” said Fox. “I’m also looking forward to watching and getting to know more about 6-man football. I didn’t even know that was an option until I got here, so I’m very excited for that.”

Journalism experience while at TTU includes reporting on crime, breaking news, government, enterprise, sports and research based articles, as well as editing podcasts, highlight reels and sports video.

Fox’s experience includes shadowing Dylan Villa at KCBD News in Lubbock for daily operations, assemblying packages through video editing and writing/story telling. Additionally he has been a sports aide/referee, and worked with Black Sheep Marketing for client brands and products, on-campus marketing campaigns. operating scoreboards and tracking stats, and working directly with officials and parents.

Outside of school and journalism, his hobbies include golf, basketball, fishing and reading. When not doing those things, he is usually listening to music, with his favorite band being The Strokes. He is also an avid Dallas sports fan, which includes the Cowboys, Mavericks, Rangers and Stars.

“As I continue this internship, I look forward to connecting with the community of Levelland and Hockley County,” said Fox.
