The Levelland city council is set to meet on Sept. 7 at 5:30 p.m. at city hall.
The council is expected to go into executive session followed by appointing a city manager to replace retiring James Fisher. Two public hearings are on the agenda, one concerning the proposed budget that will raise more revenue from property taxes, and another for the proposed tax rate for FY 20262027.
Other agenda items include possible action on the annual services agreement with the Levelland Chamber of Commerce for FY and several ordinances.
Ordinance No. 1121 addresses adjusting utility rates for water, wastewater and sanitation; Ordinance No. 1122 would amend the article on livestock, and Ordinance No. 1123 would amend the article for abandoned and junked motor vehicles.
The council is expected to consider an agreement with LISD regarding student resource officers, the Hockley County Election agreement, and TxDOT routine airport maintenance agreement.
Additionally, the council is expected to take action to cast a ballot for the Texas Municipal League interlocal risk board of trustees.
City manager James Fisher is expected to give staff and project updates and other items of community interest.
