The Levelland city council will be holding a regular meeting on Sept. 12 at 6 p.m.
A public hearing on the proposed FY 2026/2027 budget will be held at the beginning of the meeting, followed possible action to approve Resolution No. 2026-16 adopting the budget.
The council is also expected to take action to ratify the property tax increase reflected in the budget.
A second public hearing is scheduled on the proposed tax rate for FY 2026/2027, approve Ordinance No. 1124 setting the 2026/2027 tax rate by setting the Maintenance and Operation component of the 2026/2027 tax rate (General Fund and Cemetery Fund) and the Debt component of the 2026/2027 tax rate. (Interest and Redemption Fund) on a second reading.
The council is expected to take necessary action on Resolution No. 2026-17 amending the fiscal year 2025-2026 budget.
An additional public hearing is scheduled regarding sub-standard structures located at 1211 West Ave., 1412 W Jefferson, and 1620 Houston Street to be followed by possible action to issue any order to abate, repair, secure or demolish.
Additionally, Ordinance No. 1119 regarding curb cuts and driveway openings, and Ordinance No. 1125 concerning parking in downtown area, are expected to be considered on a first reading. The council is also expected to consider taking action on the transfer, disposal or distribution of a 2000 GMC C8500 fire truck.
A Memorandum of Understanding and Business Associate Agreement with South Plains Rural Health Services for the Employer- Sponsored Primary Care Access Program is expected to be considered and acted on.
A report from the city manager concerning staff updates, projects and recognition is also expected.
