As the State Fair of Texas nears opening on Sept. 26, operators have announced it will lower admission prices and parking free after a drop in attendance in 2025.
State Fair operators said attendees in 2025 told them prices were too high, averaging between $96 and $136 for a family of four just to get into the fair causing the number to drop to 2,020,064 – the lowest in the past eight years.
Operators have dropped adult tickets by $4 and set child tickets at $10 for every day of the Fair. Parking fees have been dropped from $30 to $25.
The independent vendors that sell food and beverages have also pledged to provide a value menu or drop the price of certain items to help with affordability issues.
There are more than 200 food and beverage items available for $10 or less, and operators announced rides will be on average 17% cheaper.
Families who would like to save some money on food and drinks are allowed to bring in their own food and beverages to the Fair. The Fair will offer100 free daily events, performances, attractions, and exhibits.
Additionally, on the first day of the Fair, fairgoers can bring two jars of peanut butter to be donated to the North Texas Food Bank to get a $10 entry.
