The South Plains College Board of Regents met Thursday to approve roofing repairs across campus buildings, look over financial reports, revise the college’s weapons policy, and uphold the termination of a faculty member.
Following a closed executive session, regents voted to deny an appeal filed by a faculty member and uphold the employee’s termination. The public agenda didn’t specify the reason for the termination.
The board also approved roofing repairs for multiple buildings across the Levelland campus. The proposals included $556,200 in storm damage repairs from CanTex Roofing & Construction and $650,200 in repairs from Tecta America.
The proposed repairs cover several campus facilities, including the Student Center, Fine Arts building, Science building, and Student Services building.
Regents also approved curriculum changes in compliance with Texas Senate Bill 37, along with an updated inventory in minor degree and certificate programs offered by the college.
The college’s fall 2026 census report showed total credit hours decreased 1% compared to last year, falling from 83,469 to 82,595. Credit hours at the Levelland campus declined 8.9%.
The fall in credit hours is the effect of all the dual credit enrollment at SPC.
