Hockley early voting exceeds expections

Early voting in Hockley County is off to a strong start, with turnout exceeding expectations during the first two days.

According to Jody Rose, county elections administrator, 835 voters cast their ballots in Levelland during the first two days of early voting, while the countywide total reached 1,153. Rose said he has been impressed with the voter turnout.

“Even with high expectations heading into the election, the voter turnout has still surpassed them,” Rose said.

He also mentioned that the county’s first two days of early voting saw a higher voter turnout than the first two days of the 2024 presidential election.

Across the state, multiple counties are reporting record-breaking turnout on Day 1 of early voting.

Both Harris and Dallas counties set turnout records.

Campaign consultants on both sides of the aisle caution that it’s difficult to glean too much from a single day or two of the early vote since it tends to skew towards the party with the most enthusiasm.
