Hockley County 4-H hosts annual awards banquet

Hockley County 4-H recently hosted its annual awards banquet with 120 youth members and their families attending. This annual awards banquet showcases and highlights all of the youth and their activities for the year. Tyler Chase, a senior 4-H member from the Levelland club, was the mistress of ceremonies.

The first award given out was the Distinguished Leader Award that was given to Janay Crenshaw. Crenshaw is the club manager for the Whitharral 4-H club and has served Whitharral and Hockley County 4-H for more than 10 years. The next set of awards given out were the 4-H Project Completion Awards. This award goes to youth that have completed a project in their main focus area and filled out an application for the award.

Youth receiving the award are as follows: Chase Jones, Hannah Wilde, Emilee Wilde, Ollen Pearson, Riggin Pearson, Dillon Johnson, Kynlee Martin, Hank Davis, Case Davis, Tyler Chase, Clara Cochran, Karter Hord, Tucker Parkinson, Machayla Parkinson, Shyanne Crenshaw, BreAllyn Griffith, Stennan Sanders, Hudson Lee, Crockett Stone, Bowen Stone, Carson Wood, Tyler Parkinson, Caden Crenshaw, Kynlee Mae Thomas, Charley King, Cale Cochran, Braxie Albus, Addilyn Hord, Sebation Quintero, Ethan Parkinson, Dylan Popelka, Bradley Gray, Riley Siders, Reed Terrell, Blake Houston, Brayden Spies, Bryar Sherrill, Hudson Dobrovlny, Stedson Dovrovolny, Cale Dockery, Kade Gregory, Parks Tucker, McKinley Tucker, Colt Parkinson, Savannah Quintero, Copper Popelka and Morgan Griffith.

One of the most difficult things to do in 4-H is to complete a record book. This book highlights all of the projects that youth are involved in and requires accurate and diligent record keeping.

Record book award winners are as follows: Carson Wood, Riley Siders, Morgan Griffith, BreAllyn Griffith, Tyler Parkinson, Caden Crenshaw, Trace DeArmond, Tucker Parkinson, Colt Parkinson, Kynlee Mae Thomas, Cade Gregory, Bryar Sherrill, Brayden Spies, Tyler Chase, Hank Davis, and Case Davis.

Next were the Achievement Awards, where 4-H members complete a project record form and place first at a district contest.

Achievement Award winners were: Cale Dockery, Cale Cochran, Bradley Gray, Charley King, Crockett Stone, Dillion Johnson, Machayla Parkinson, Clara Cochran, Addie Hord, Karter Hord and Ethan Parkinson.

A Project Award was given to members that have competed in at least one County, District, or State competition.

Winners are as follows: Morgan Griffith, BreAllyn Griffith, Dylan Popelka, Copper Popelka, Shyanne Crenshaw, Ethan Parkinson, Machayla Parkinson, Savannah Quintero, Sabastian Quintero, Chase Jones, Hannah Wilde, Emilee Wilde, Ollen Pearson, Riggin Pearson, Dillon Johnson, Kynlee Martin, Riley Martin, Hank Davis, Case Davis, Stellan Sanders, Hudson Lee, Crocket Stone, Bowen Stone, Carson Wood, Tyler Parkinson, Caden Crenshaw, Kynlee Thomas, Charley King, Bradley Gray, Riley Siders, Reed Terrell, Blake Houston, Brayden Spies, Bryar Sherrill, Hudson Dobrovolny, Stedson Dobrovolny, Cale Dockery, Tyler Chase, Cale Cochran, Kade Gregory, Clara Cochran, Braxie Albus, Parks Tucker, Colt Parkinson Karter Hord, Addilyn Hord and Tucker Parkinson.

The Outstanding Junior Record Book award was next to be presented.

This award is given the 4-H member in the third thru fifth grade who submitted the best record book in the age group.

The Outstanding Junior Record Book Award was given to Colt Parkinson.

The Outstanding Intermediate Record Book award is given to a member that is in the sixth thru eighth grade.

The Outstanding Intermediate Record Book award was given to Tucker Parkinson.

The Outstanding Senior Record Book goes to members who are in the ninth thru 12th grade. The depth of these detailed record books makes them by far the most difficult to assemble and certainly the most difficult.

The Outstanding Senior Record Book award was given to Riley Siders.

Each year Hockley County recognizes an adult leader that gives freely of their time and is an asset to the overall program.

This years recipient was Amber Parkinson.

The Friend of 4-H award recognizes individuals, families or businesses who have given countless hours of support to Hockley County 4-H.

This years award was given to the Mallet Event Center.

The Meritorious Service Award is given to an individual that goes above and beyond for the Hockley County 4-H program.

The award this year was given to Debby Damrell.

Next up was the Outstanding first year 4-H member. This award is given to the first year member that has been active in all aspects of Hockley County 4-H.

The award was given to Kade Gregory.

The Star Awards are a set of awards that require an application to be completed and then each applicant is interviewed and ranked.

The Star Awards are the highest awards that a member can receive in their age division.

Bronze Star is given to a Junior member, Silver Star is given to an Intermediate member and the highest award that can be received in 4-H is the Gold Star Award This years Bronze Star award was given to Park Tucker.

The Silver Star Award was given to Bryar Sherrill and the Gold Star award winners were Tyler Chase and Ethan Parkinson.

The final awards given out at the banquet were the William H. Danforth “I Dare You” awards.

These awards are given to youth that have reached their highest potential and are true youth leaders in Hockley County.

This years recipients were Caden Crenshaw and Tyler Parkinson.
