The plan for new mosaic handrails has continued to move forward with the commissioners court making their decisions on the mosaic designs. With Hockley County Judge Sharla Baldrige handling the efforts in coordination with Main Street Manager Tania Moody, 16 mosaic designs will be made which means eight hand rails will be placed around the perimeter of the courthouse. Wanting to include multiple entities from around the county, school mascots of the surrounding schools will each have a mosaic as well as a mosaic of SPC’s logo.
Additionally, the commissioners decided on a tractor mosaic, the 100 year banner of Hockley County and a veterans mosaic.
The remaining mosaic spots that need to be filled will be done prior to submitting the final designs.
An introduction of Tristyn Dalindo by Texas A&M AgriLife follwed as the court approved and appointed Dalindo as the new 4-H Extension Agent effective January, 2023. Currently, Dalindo serves as an assistant county agent in Hale County. Essentially a training position that company has that allows new agents such as Dalindo to work in a smaller and controlled area to adapt and understand the in’s and out’s of the job. The court discussed and approved the Terralogic Document Systems criminal case file conversion proposal that was submitted by the Hockley County Clerk Jennifer Palermo as well as the request to use ARPA funds to pay for said proposal through the Texas Buy Board.
The former Hockley County Jail building adjacent from the courthouse has continued to be a storehouse for various records. With that being the case, tracking down criminal records for Palermo and her staff has been tedious and difficult.
The storing of physical copies without a reliable backup have been points Palermo has brought up in a separate commissioners meeting in the past when talking about the large amount of files and records being stored.
After passing those two agenda items, the next step will be to higher a company to retrieve all the files that were selected to become electronic and scan those items for the Net Data company will begin to convert those records into a digital file.
The method of payment will be through ARPA funds with an import service agreement at $15,000 and a total completion amount of $78,430.01.
