The Levelland LEDC held a regularly scheduled meeting before their annual luncheon at the Mallet Event Center Thursday.
An executive session by the LEDC committee evaluation the current LEDC Director Justin Balderas during executive session.
After reconvening from the session, it was explained that Balderas had been evaluated on his overall performance in the current role as he was under a sixmonth probationary period as he was relatively new to the role.
Board members congratulated and praised the past and current work Balderas has done during his time in the role. After a unanimous decision, Balderas was removed from his probationary status which includes a handful of benefits.
Additionally, City Attorney Matt Wade was present for the meeting to discuss with the board the current state of their relationship as a board with the firm associated with Wade.
Essentially assuring the board that there are several methods of contacting Wade and or needing help or questions ask whenever needed.
Wade added that working with EDC’s is something that excites him, and he looks forward to continuing his working relationship with the board.
The committee addressed the audit preformed for the board and were happy to report that there were no errors or things that needed to be addressed.
City Manager Brandon Anderson spoke to the board about his past experiences with audits at the city level and he explained that this is one of the best reports he has received.
The auditor is currently working on a draft to present to the audit committee to the board of directors.
Wrapping up the meeting, Balderas gave his regular Rail Park update in his director’s report.
Through EDA grant funds, the water and sewer projects have been completed without issues.
Balderas explained that the only hiccup throughout the process is filling multiple manholes that were rather large.
West Texas Paving is currently working on the concrete in the park, while drainage is being addressed at the main entrance of the area.
