The Hockley County Veterans Services held their sixth annual Veteran’s Day Breakfast Saturday.
Dr. Paul Anderson, public relations for Texas South Plains Honor Flight was the main speaker for the event.
He explained to the crowd how a telethon that was held last week raised more than $32,000 in funds for the organization.
He also added that the funds generated go towards the groups goal of gathering and transporting veterans to Washington D.C to tour the memorials.
Dr. Anderson encouraged any Veteran who wished to sign up at https:// www.texassouthplainshonorflight.org/ in order to prepare for their next trip.
In attendance were the Levelland Police Department Honor Guard presenting colors before a recognition of each branch.
A presentation was given by Coye Brown and Pastor Jon Sharp their newly formed project, a veteran’s peer-to-peer support group.
Formed to give veterans a a space to discuss time they spent in the armed forces and see individuals who had been in the same circumstances as themselves.
The group meets at the First Evangelical Church on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month.
Any and all veterans needing support are encouraged to join them.
