According to DPS reports a deadly crash occurred Wednesday in Yoakum County, killing one and leaving another injured.
The wreck happened along U.S. Highway 380 roughly 8 miles west of Plains. Around 6:40 a.m., a 2014 International Dura Star truck piloted by Manuel Rafael Ortega, 40 of Midland was traveling west on Highway 380 when he lost control due to the wet roadway and veered across the eastbound lane of traffic. The vehicle entered the ditch and rolled.
Manuel Ortega was later pronounced dead by the Justice of the Peace, his passenger Jose Antonio Perez Ramirez, 37 of Odessa was transported to Yoakum County Hospital where he was treated and released.
