CHOCOLATE FANTASIA WINNERS– Mrs. Kris Oaks’ high school culinary students prepared chocolate cakes for the Chocolate Fantasia Culinary competition event at the Texas Tech Frazier Alumni Pavilion and came away with many medals. Karma Mitchell designed her scarecrow and won first place for sweet bite, first place chocolate sculpture, overall best sweet bite, and Best of Show Chocolate Sculpture! Lyric and Elie Muniz were awarded first place for chocolate sculpture, second place for sweet bite and third place overall for chocolate sculpture with their dragon creation. Dusty Dobson and Jared Hernandez earned a second for chocolate sculpture and a third small bite with their castle cake. Show are Levelland High School culinary arts teacher Khris Oaks and students Elie Muniz, Lyric Muniz, Karma Mitchell, Jared Hernandez, Principal, Dr. Matthew Birdwell, and Dusty Dobson. “It’s Career & Technical Education Month and LHS cannot think of a better way to celebrate than to brag about our Culinary Arts Classes. Khris Oaks’ classes prepare students for a career after high school by teaching them a skill that they can use to make a living on their own or by working for a bakery!” said Cristal Isaacks, the school district’s public information officer. “We are so proud of these kids and especially Khris Oaks and her ability to teach kids this awesome skill that will last a lifetime!
