Cochran County earns safety award

Cochran County earned a 2022 Safety Achievement Award from the Texas Association of Counties Risk Management Pool (TAC RMP).

The county must participate in the TAC RMP’s Workers’ Compensation Program, have a safety program or accident prevention plan and meet additional criteria to qualify for the award.

Cochran County Treasurer, Tommy Smith commended the county employees for continuing to be awarded safety awards since the early 2000’s.

“This award is all about the effort from the employees of the county, their safety programs and trainings they conduct,” Smith said. “This award is about everything thing from our clerical staff and road hands running heavy equipment, running everything safe.”

The county is one of 25 members statewide to receive the 2022 Safety Achievement Award.

The award was obtained through the county’s commitment to safe practices among its employees.

Cochran County works to reduce employee injuries and obtain substantial savings for taxpayers by minimizing workers’ compensation costs and claims.

The county will receive the award at a conference Mar. 22, 2022.
