Loboettes finish year undefeated in distirct

The Levelland Loboettes wrapped up district play, 10-0, against the San Angelo Lake View Maidens, 66-9, on the road Tuesday night.

Outright district champions, 10-0, in district play and 29-3 on the season, the Loboettes will be in Merkel Monday at 6 p.m. in a first round match-up against the Mineral Wells Lady Rams.

Levelland held Lake View scoreless until the middle of the second quarter and led 41-5 at halftime.

Emery Smith led the Loboettes with 14 points while Madison Stafford hit 3 threes scoring 11.

Destynii Jones scored eight points, while Leilani Sanchez had seven and Presley Smith added five.

Carley Tienda and Laci White added four each while Mia Morin, Angelica Gonzales added three points each.

Adrenna Galvin, Ellie Phillips, and Oliva Velardez all got two in the win.

Loboette Head Coach Clay Barnett was pleased with his team’s effort and focus as it was a long three-hour bus ride to San Angelo Tuesday.

Facing a team that is 0-9 is not the best way to get a team fired up to play, but Coach Barnett feels that his squad understands that each game is an opportunity to get better and with this year’s playoff run about to begin, each practice and game have to count for more.

Going through the rest of the week, Coach Barnett has encouraged his team to focus on being healthy and mentally prepared for playoff’s.

Getting to face off against Mineral Wells for a second time this season, the Loboettes are familiar with the Lady Ram roster and what they bring to the table.

“They have a lot of height inside and solid guards,” said Coach Barnett. “We need to be able to travel well and play the ball we are used to. We might practice on a few different things, but we are going to stick closely to what we do and know.”
