2/16/2023 - DISPATCH 12:20 PM - CLEARED 12:39 PM HOCKLEYCOUNTY The fire department received a call of a chicken coop on fire in the 4900 block of Sunrise Lane. Fire personnel responded to the residence where the fire was already out. The area was wet down before departure.
2/15/2023 - DISPATCH 8:35 AM - CLEARED 9:44 AM - SMYER
The department received a request for assistance from Levelland EMS to assistance on MVA in the 6900 block of E HWY 114. Upon arrival, West Carlisle FD was already on scene and Levelland fire units provided traffic control.
2/11/2023 - DISPATCH 1:45 AM - CLEARED 3:25 AM LEVELLAND Levelland fire department received a call regarding a carbon monoxide detector activation on the 1700 block of Wilson Street. Upon arrival, fire personnel detected carbon monoxide inside the residence. An additional unit was requested for ventilation. Fire personnel requested Atmos Energy to respond to the location. After approximately an hour, Atmos Energy was still not on the scene. Fire personnel advised the residents to turn off all gas units until Atmos Energy arrived.
2/10/2023 - DISPATCH 8:48 PM - CLEARED 9:13 PM LEVELLAND The fire department received a call regarding a welfare check at University Square on the 500 block of A&M Lane. Police personnel on the scene could not gain access to the residence due to no master key to unlock the deadbolt and requested the fire department for forcible entry. A reporting party at the location stated that the resident had not been seen or contacted for approximately one week. Fire personnel attempted to gain access using a k-tool but were unsuccessful due to the size of the deadbolt. Fire personnel then used a hydraulic ram and gained entry to the residence. Police personnel entered the residence and found the resident deceased. Fire personnel were then released from the scene.
2/10/2023 - DISPATCH 8:15 PM - CLEARED 8:23 PM LEVELLAND The fire department was dispatched to a fire alarm at 1800 block of South College Avenue. Fire personnel made contact and were advised by SPC campus police that everything was okay. Fire personnel were advised that all units could cancel.
2/10/2023 - DISPATCH 3:17 PM - CLEARED 3:30 PM LEVELLAND The fire department received a call regarding a child locked in a vehicle at Levelland ABC School. A local wrecker service was contacted and requested the fire department to respond. Upon arrival, the child had been safely removed from the vehicle by the wrecker service.
2/9/2023 - DISPATCH 2:37 PM - CLEARED 3:17 PM - HOCKLEY COUNTY
The fire department received a call regarding a small grass fire on West Highway 114 and Juneau Road. Fire personnel responded and extinguished the grass fire.
2/9/2023 - DISPATCH 1:00 PM - CLEARED 1:48 PM LEVELLAND The fire department received a call from a resident at the 100 block of Oak Street regarding carbon monoxide detectors being activated. Carbon monoxide was found in the residence. Atmos was contacted and the scene was released to them.
2/8/2023 - DISPATCH 6:23 AM - CLEARED 6:52 AM - SMYER
The fire department was dispatched to a rollover on the east side of Smyer near the county line. While enroute, personnel on the scene informed the fire department there were sufficient resources and could return to the station.
2/2/2023 - DISPATCH 12:56 AM - CLEARED 1:23 AM LEVELLAND Units were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Poplar Street in reference to a small fire. Upon entry to the residence, the fire was put out. It was determined the fire was started by a heating element failure. Power to the house was turned off and the homeowner was advised an electrician was needed to properly isolate the issue.
2/1/2023 - DISPATCH 6:52 AM - CLEARED 12:45 PM - SMYER
The department received a call from dispatch in reference to a multi-car wreck on Highway 114 in Smyer. Fire units were requested to provide assistance to the Smyer Fire Departmen and Levelland EMS. Upon arrival, three vehicles were involved with one on fire. Smyer FD extinguished the vehicle. LFD assisted with extinguishing the fire and removal of a fatal victim from the wreck. Units stayed on scene until DPS gave the release.
