During the LEDC monthly meeting, LEDC Director Justin Balderas announced the group was recognized for their economic excellence.
The Texas Economic Development council announced the recipients of its annual Economic Excellence Recognition Program for 2022. The awards were presented at the end of February during the TEDC’s 2023 Legislatie Conference in Austin.
The program provides recognition to economic development organizations that meet a desired threshold of professionalism.
Recioients qualify for recognitiong based on training taken by their governing board, council as well as the economic development direcor and professional staff.
Among the 54 economic development organizations recognized, the LEDC was listed.
Additionally Balderas was announced as one of the graduates of the Future Leaders Training Program.
One of two graduates announced the program was established in 2019 with the mission of growing leaders with the TEDC.
Moving forward with the monthly agenda items, Balderas spoke about the monthly financials adding that everything is well and on track.
Regarding the rail park located east of Levelland, the rail car count has been steady and at healthy levels according to Balderas.
Revisiting the projects done throughout 2022, Balderas touched on the water and sewer improvements that fully looped around the area which will add as enticing factor for future business partners who would like to move into the rail park.
Concrete road work was done and funding opportunities are being looked at to full concrete the remaining area in the future.
