St. Michael Catholic Church in Levelland has announced services for Holy Week and Easter beginning with Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord this Saturday and Sunday, April 1 and 2.
Palm Sunday Mass will be celebrated with a solemn procession at 5 p.m. on Saturday, and at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. (Spanish) on Sunday.
“Beginning with Palm Sunday, I want to encourage our Catholic community to approach Holy Week and Easter with renewed hope in God’s saving grace through the Risen Jesus,” said Rev. Jonathan Phillips, pastor. “I especially want to encourage our Catholic community to invite family, friends, and neighbors back to church to share with us the Passion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ during this sacred time.”
The three-day Easter Triduum service will begin with Holy Thursday Commemoration of the Lord’s Supper April 6 at 7 p.m. The service will be marked with the traditional washing of the feet.
The Triduum service will continue at 7 p.m. April 7 with the solemn celebration of Good Friday Passion of the Lord that will include the Passion Reading and the veneration of the cross. Live Stations of the Cross presented by the Confirmation Classes will precede the service at 6 p.m. in the Parish Hall.
The Easter Vigil in the Holy Night service will begin at 8:30 p.m. Saturday April 8. At this time, catechumens will be formally welcomed into the church and the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist will be administered.
Masses for Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord will be celebrated at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. (Spanish) April 9.
