Letter to the Editor

Regular school will end at Levelland High School in just a couple of months. I say regular school because it appears our school has activities on-going all year long.

During this period of less activity is when changes take place, new projects initiated and maybe, some old wrongs to rectified.

An old wrong is why I write these words. The seating at our softball field is embarrassingly inadequate. This is not a new problem. Limited seating on the home side is an every game occurrence and has been for many years.

Earlier this month we played host to Sweetwater. Many of these people, after making a long drive, had to stand due to lack of seats. That’s despicable! Seldom does that occur on our visitors section, but it should never happen at all.

Folks, we have on our softball team a really great group of young ladies and they do ole’ LHS proud. These girls and their coaches are always ready to compete even in harsh weather conditions. They deserve our sincere appreciation.

I thought that when our new football stadium was constructed that our softball seating capacity would be enhanced with some of the new seats from the old football stadium. Nada! Dumb me for having such a silly idea.
