SPC rides at Western

The South Plains College men’s and women’s rodeo teams wrapped up their third rodeo of the spring semester over the weekend, competing at the Western Texas College Rodeo at the WTC Coliseum.

Madison Neal led the Lady Texans with 110 points, turning in a second place finish in goat tying. Neal posted a 7.1 in the long round and a 6.4 in the short go, finishing with a 13.5 average. Samantha Taylor also qualified for the finals in goat tying, running a 7.2 in the long round but no timed in the finals Saturday night. Emery Mask qualified for the finals in barrel racing, posting a 14.10 in the long round and a 14.17 in the short go, capping the event with a 28.27 average.

The Texans were led by Logan Kenline, who notched a fifth place finish in steer wrestling for South Plains. Kenline posted a 4.5 in the long round and a 5.0 in the finals, good enough for 85 points.

Brey Yore also made the finals in steer wrestling, clocking a 5.7 in the long round, but missed in the finals Saturday night.

Titan Quigg added 15 points for South Plains in tiedown roping, running an 8.6 in the long round but no timed in the finals, finishing ninth on the weekend.

South Plains Trey Adams’ made the finals in team roping, running with Texas Tech’s John Sharp. The duo posted a 6.2 in the long round and a 10.5 in the finals, good enough for fifth overall and 85 individual points.

South Plains will be off next weekend before traveling to Big Spring for the Howard College Rodeo April 13-15, followed by a trip to Stephenville for the Tarleton State Rodeo April 20-22.
