Sundown slips to third in district

  • REGIONAL BOUND- Freshman Aubrey Morin placed fifth as an individual at the district meet and qualified for the for the regional tournament.     Wednesday was a long day for Sundown as the Roughnecks dropped a road game to the New Home Leopard, 12-2.

    New Home scored seven runs in the fifth inning. Mason Turnbow, Jackson Raines and Logan Addison each had RBIs in the inning.

    Addison took the win for New Home. Addison lasted four innings, allowing zero hits and one run while striking out eight.

    Jeffrey Rodrigues took the loss for Sundown. Rodrigues allowed nine hits and seven runs over four innings.

    He also had five strike outs.

    Rodrigues and Jaryn Flores each collected one hit to lead the Roughneck offense.

    New Home totaled 13 hits in the game. Addison, Brenden Beckham, Brody Emert, Turnbow, and Brazos Beck each collected multiple hits for New Home.

    The roughnecks are 17-2 overall and 4-2 in district play.

    Sundown sits in third behind New Home and Ropes.

    Sundown will roll out the welcome mats for Smyer Tuesday.
