The Sundown Roughettes took both games of a doubleheader from the Lockney Lady Longhorns last Saturday at Lubbock Cooper High School in UIL District 3-2A high school softball action.
In game one of the series, Sundown outlasted Lockney,1812.
Lockney was able to take the lead 6-2 in the top of the third inning, but the Roughettes scored six runs in the bottom of the third to take an 8-6 lead.
Lockney took another lead 10-8 in the top of the fourth, but Sundown tied it at the end of the fourth.
The Roughettes took a 15-10 lead at the end of the fifth inning and never looked back after that inning.
Daniella Reyna was the winning pitcher. She went six innings, allowing 12 hits and eight runs with five strikeouts and a walk.
Emry Jourdan allowed four runs with two strikeouts and four walks in an inning of relief.
Camry Jourdan lad the offense with three runs, three hits, and four RBIs.
Emry Jourdan had three runs. Reyna had two hits and two runs. Ashlyn Lara had five runs, two hits and four RBIs.
Ella McCormick had two hits and two RBIs. Ericka Posadas had a run, three hits and four RBIs. Araceli Ibarra had two hits. Ariel Hernandez had a run. Allie McCormick had two runs.
In game two, Sundown completed the series sweep over Lockney, 17-1.
Game two was all Roughettes as the offense stayed hot. Lockney’s only run came in the bottom half of the first inning.
Sundown scored five runs in the first and six each in the second and third innings before the game was called.
Daniella Reyna was the winning pitcher, going all three innings allowing one hit, one run and striking out three.
Camry Jourdan had two runs, two hits and four RBIs. Emry Jourdan had two runs, two hits and one RBI. Reyna had a hit.
Ella McCormick had two runs and an RBI. Ericka Posadas had two runs, two hits and four RBIs. Araceli Ibarra had a run and an RBI.
Ariel Hernandez had two runs. Allie McCormick had a run, a hit and an RBI.
Sundown now sits fourth in the district with a 4-4 record.
The Roughettes will be in New Deal for an 11 a.m. game on Saturday.
