Cochran SWCD is very involved with the political aspect of Soil and Water Conservation. The Board strongly supports the efforts being made at the Capitol in Austin to financially help all districts to better educate our youth on Soil and Water Conservation. On March 22, 2023, Jake Timmons-Board Chairman and Matt Patterson-Board Secretary, accompanied by his wife Beka, 2 sons Caleb and Eli, along with more than 80 SWCD Directors from across Texas met in Austin for the ATSWCD Legislative Day at the Capitol. This group of Directors were briefed on the priority issues for this legislative day, they walked the halls of the Texas State Capitol to visit with elected officials and staff to educate them on the importance of Soil and Water Conservation and the important work done by the State Board.
