Morton’s Team Crista Foundation holds fourth annual car show event

The fourth annual Team Crista Foundation Car Show will be held April 29, at the Cochran County park in Morton.

There will be food trucks and vendors, a silent auction, a swap meet and a live band at the car show.

Car show participants can register their cars for $20 beginning at 8:00 a.m. through noon. Judging will begin at 1:00 p.m. and awards will begin at 3:00 p.m.

There is not an admission fee for those who attend the car show, but Team Crista t-shirts and hats will be for sale at the event.

The Team Crista Foundation was founded in the memory of Cristabel Leal Rodriguez who battled brain cancer for a year before passing away at 13-years old. Crista’s father Frank Rodriguez explained that the proceeds made from the car show will benefit local children in the South Plains area fighting life-threatening diseases or cancer.

“All the money we raise we go and donate to kids fighting life threatening diseases,” F. Rodriguez said. “We try to keep it as local as we can, 70–100-mile radius, just around here.”

Since Team Crista Foundation is a non-profit organization, all proceeds from the car show will be used to help children.

“All funds raised goes out to pediatric in general,” F. Rodriguez said. “None of the money goes is our pockets. It’s all to benefit children that are fighting for their lives.”

Crista’s mother Christina Rodriguez explained the foundation helps children fighting a multitude of diseases and not just for children fighting cancer.

“We’ve helped some kids in Levelland that have MS,” C. Rodriguez said. “We’ve helped some kids that have hydrocephalus, heart conditions anything that is life-threatening.”
