The Whiteface and Morton Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to a tractor fire on FM 2295, Monday afternoon. Whiteface Fire Personnel responded with Unit 33, a 500 gpm wildland interface unit manned by firefighters Ryan Crutcher and James Soliz, Unit 30, a 3000 gallon tanker operated by Chief Bruce Heflin and Unit 31, a light rescue manned by Capt. Jay Kelley. Asst Chief Justin Heflin and firefighter Dana Heflin responded POV Morton responded with Unit 24, a 1000 gpm engine and Unit 20, a 1000 gallon grass truck with four firefighters. Arriving units found the tractor heavily involved in a plowed field. WVFD 30 experienced a mechanical problem during the response, limiting water supply. Crews extinguished the visible fire and overhauled until there was no threat of extension.
