Hockley County Grand Jury returns indictments

A Hockley County Grand Jury in the 286th Judicial District Court returned 22 indictments.

William Boyd Garrett, 64, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance penalty group one, 1-B, less than one gram.

The indictment states, on or about February 21, Garret intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance namely methamphetamine, in an amount less than one gram. Bond was issued in the amount of $3,000.

Tami Merinelarena, 40, was charged with having a prohibited substance, item in a correctional or civil commitment facility and possession of a controlled substance penalty group one, 1B, less than one gram.

On or about March 16, Merinelarena intentionally and knowingly took a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine in the Hockley County Jail, a correctional facility. A second count states the defendant intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, in an amount less than one gram.

Bond was issued in the amount of $10,000.

Spurgeon Weaver, 42, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, penalty group one, 1-B, between one gram and four grams and theft of a firearm.

The first count within the indictment states Weaver knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, in an amount of one gram or more but less than four grams.

The second count states the defendant unlawfully appropriated, by acquiring or otherwise exercising control property, namely a firearm from Sammy Diaz the owner, without effective consent and with the intent to deprive the owner of property.

Bond was issued in the amount of $2,000.

Spencer Jorale Terry, 37, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The indictment states, on or about January 30, Terry intentionally and recklessly caused bodily injury to a female individual by hitting her in the face and during the commission of the offense used or exhibited a deadly weapon, namely a razor blade or knife, which in the manner of its use or intended use was capable of causing serious bodily injury or death, Additionally, the defendant intentionally and recklessly caused bodily injury of the same female individual by shoving a phone into her face and during the commission of the offense used or exhibited a deadly weapon, namely a razor blade or knife, which in the manner of its use or intended use was capable of causing serious bodily injury or death.

Bond was issued in the amount of $15,000.

Shonda Lorice Bishop, 48, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance, penalty group one, 1-B, less than one gram.

The indictment states, on or about February 21, Bishop intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, in amount less than one gram.

Bond was issued in the amount of $3,000.

Santana Paul Trinidad, 26, was charged with tampering, fabricating physical evidence with the intent to impair and possession of a controlled substance, penalty group one, 1-B, less than one gram.

The indictment states, on or about May 23, Trinidad knowing that an investigation was in progress, namely an investigation into whether the defendant was the suspect engaging in suspicious conduct concealed a baggie containing a white crystalline substance with the intent to impair its availability as evidence in the investigation.

A second count states the defendant intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, in an amount less than one gram.

A third count states the defendant had the specific intent to commit the offense of burglary of a habitation of Ruby Flores and did an act by verbally threatening to enter the complainant’s residence while banging on the complainants doors, which amounted to more than mere preparation that tended but failed to effect the commission of the offense intended.

Nathaniel Vidales, 25, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance, penalty group one, 1-B, less than one gram.

The indictment states, on or about April 10, Vidales intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, in amount less than one gram.

Bond was issued in the amount of $5,000.

Luis Rey Solano, 61, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance, penalty group one, 1-B, between one and four grams.

The indictment states, on or about April 20, knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, in an amount of one gram or more but less than four grams.

Bond was issued in the amount of $10,000.

Jeremiah Larry Lomas, 32, was charged with the burglary of a building.

The indictment states, on or about May 27, Lomas knowingly and intentionally entered a building or a portion of a building without the effective consent of Will Kristineck, the owner, and attempted to commit or committed theft of property, namely computers, pro audio equipment, speakers and, or an amplifier.

Bond was issued in the amount of $10,000.

Jeffery Romero, 48, was charged with manufacturing, delivery of a controlled substance, penalty group 1-B, between four grams and 200 grams.

The indictment states, on or about May 29, Romero intentionally and knowingly possessed, with the intent to deliver, a controlled substance namely methamphetamine in an amount of four grams or more but less than 200 grams.

Bond was issued in the amount of $15,000.

James Scott Haywood, 45, was charged with driving while intoxicated third or more.

The indictment states, on or about April 22, Haywood operated a motor vehicle in a public place while intoxicated. Prior to the commission of the charged offense, on or about October 19, 2005, the defendant was convicted of driving while intoxicated in the County Court of Terry County. Additionally, on or about January 9, 2014, the defendant was convicted of driving while intoxicated in the 154th District Court of Lamb County.

Bond was issued in the amount of $7,500.

James Dewayne Clem, 45, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance, penalty group one, 1-B, less than one gram.

The indictment states, on or about December 21, 2022, Clem intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, in amount less than one gram.

Bond was issued in the amount of $2,500.

Gerald Eli Ward, 34, was charged with evading arrest, detention with a vehicle.

The indictment states, on or about February 21, Ward used a motor vehicle, intentionally fleeing from a deputy, a person the defendant knew was a peace officer who was attempting to lawfully arrest or detain the defendant.

Bond was issued in the amount of $5,000.

Gary Wayne Lyon, 54, was charged with manufacturing, delivery of a controlled substance, penalty group 1-B, between four grams and 200 grams.

The indictment states, on or about March 15, Lyon intentionally and knowingly possessed, with the intent to deliver, a controlled substance namely methamphetamine in an amount of four grams or more but less than 200 grams.

Domonic Anthony Chacon, 24, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, penalty group one, 1-A, between 20 abuse units and 80 abuse units.

The indictment states, on or about, April 27, Chacon intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely lysergic acid diethylamide in an amount of 20 abuse units or more but fewer than 80 abuse units.

Bond was issued in the amount of $30,000.

Denise Marie Shew, 45, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance, penalty group one, 1-B, less than one gram.

The indictment states, on or about June 4, Shew intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, in amount less than one gram.

Bond was issued in the amount of $3,000.

David Tienda Jr., 45, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance, penalty group one, 1-B, less than one gram.

The indictment states, on or about April 11, the defendant intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, in amount less than one gram.

Bond was issued in the amount of $2,000.

Daniel Torres, 38, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance, penalty group one, 1-B, less than one gram.

The indictment states, on or about April 14, intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, in amount less than one gram.

Daniel Christopher Macdonald, 50, was charged with driving while intoxicated third or more.

The indictment states, on or about June 3, Macdonald operated a motor vehicle in a public place while intoxicated. Prior to the commission of the charged offense, on July 6, 2000, the defendant was convicted of an offense relating to the operating of a motor vehicle while intoxicated in the Lubbock County Court at Law No. One. Additionally, on or about March 12, 2015, the defendant was convicted for driving while intoxicated third or more in the 140th District Court of Lubbock County.

Bond was issued in the amount of $10,000.

Antonio Valdez, 48, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance, penalty group one, 1-B, between four grams and 200 grams.

The indictment states, on or about May 2, Valdez intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, in an amount of four grams or more but less than 200 grams.

Bond was issued in the amount of $5,500.

Andrea Gallardo, 42, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance, penalty group one, 1-B, between four grams and 200 grams.

The indictment states, on or about June 4, Gallardo intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, in an amount of four grams or more but less than 200 grams.

Bond was issued in the amount of $10,000.
