Local law enforcement agencies handle barricaded subject, Saturday

The Levelland Police Department, Hockley County Sheriff’s Department and Hockley County Emergency Management had a busy Saturday evening after officers were called to the 900 block of 4th Street regarding a physical domestic disturbance.

Around 8:20 p.m., an officer with the LPD responded to a call of a physical domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, the officer observed arrestee, Raymundo Rodriguez Jr., throw a glass bottle into the street.

The report states, the officer excited the vehicle when the individual began to flee northbound on foot into the backyard of the residence.

A member of the residence informed an additional officer that Rodriguez Jr., had entered the residence through the back door and made his way into the basement of the home and barricaded himself.

Additional units arrived on scene blocking off the corners of 4th Street and Avenue I along with 4th Street and West Avenue.

A tactical team was formed shortly after units arriving on scene were informed of the events that led to that point.

After a period of time, the tactical team entered the residence and began clearing the home.

The report states Raymundo Jr., was located in the basement area of the residence where he then became combative before surrendering. After being escorted from the residence, the arestee was taken to the Hockley County Jail.
