Thunder on the Plains will be coming to Levelland August 1819, with their 17th Annual Car Show.
For Friday, August 18, the event will begin with the Poker Run at 6:30 p.m. and will end at 7:30 p.m. The cruise will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will wrap-up around 9 p.m.
Prizes will be available for vehicles the judges see during the cruise. Individuals will need to register before the cruise to be eligible for the awards, but all vehicles are encouraged to participate in the cruise if awards are not desired. Registration for the car show on the following day can also be down during registration of the cruise and Poker Run.
In conjunction with the cruise and Poker Run, there will be a pit stop area near the First United Methodist Church parking lot where there will be live music and more.
Saturday, August 19, the events will begin at 10 a.m. and will end at 3 p.m. Registration begins Saturday at 8 a.m. and there will be open parking for all classes in the car show. There will be 18 car classes and two motorcycle classes which will be stock and custom. First, second and third place will be given for each class. There will be a participant judged show, people’s choice trophy and door prizes.
The Hot Wheels race for kids will be making its return along with the coveted burnout event beginning at noon. A new event for Saturday will be the Rockin’ Record Fling with prizes available.
The car show awards will be announced at 3 p.m. and there will be cash prizes for best Ford, Chevy, Mopar and other. A swap meet will be going along with food and drink booths and vendors.
The event is sponsored by O’Reilly’s Auto Parts of Levelland and trophies will be given to first, second, third and a $300 dollar King of the Hill cash prize.
