Levelland Fire Report

8/27/2023 - DISPATCHED 7:04 P.M. - CLEARED 8:06 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD received reports from dispatch regarding a one-vehicle rollover near W. Highway 114 and Hummingbird Road. While enroute, dispatch advised the LFD that all occupants were out of the vehicle and were being treated by Levelland EMS. Once the LFD cleared the scene, they returned to the station.

8/27/2023 - DISPATCHED 7:56 A.M. - CLEARED 9:07 A.M. LEVELLAND Dispatch received a report of smoke coming from a bedroom located at a residence in the 300 block of Parkwood Lane. Fire units responded to the residence and did not locate any smoke source. It was determined that a ceiling fan shorted out and stopped turning.

8/27/2023 - DISPATCHED 3:38 A.M. - CLEARED 4:02 A.M. LEVELLAND LFD fire personnel were called to assist in gaining entry into a residence located at the 900 block of Avenue B, that had been vandalized. The LFD was unable to gain entry due to deadbolt.

8/26/2023 - DISPATCHED - 6:08 P.M. - CLEARED 6:45 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The Levelland Fire Department was dispatched to the 2000 block of Guywire Road in regard to a grass fire.

8/24/2023 - DISPATCHED 2:39 P.M. - CLEARED 3:28 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The Levelland Fire Department was dispatched to the 6800 block of E. Highway 114 in regard to smoke in the area. While enroute, the HCSO advised the department the area was clear.

8/23/2023 - DISPATCHED 7:38 P.M. - CLEARED 7:59 P.M. LEVELLAND The Levelland Fire department received a call reporting a child had gotten stuck in a swing that was designed for a younger child at a residence near Hickory Street and Sherman Street. Fire personnel were able to free the child after cutting the chain and physically helping the child out.

8/23/2023 - DISPATCHED 1:47 P.M. - CLEARED 2:46 P.M. SUNDOWN The Sundown Fire Department requested mutual aid for a major vehicle accident near FM 301 and Wildcat Road. Fire personnel responded to the call and offered aid.

8/23/2023 - DISPATCHED 8:05 A.M. - CLEARED 9:30 A.M. LEVELLAND Levelland EMS requested fire units for traffic control near W. Highway 114 and Evening Tower Road.

8/21/2023 - DISPATCHED 12:37 P.M. - CLEARED 12:50 P.M. -LEVELLAND

The Levelland Fire Department was dispatched to a residence near the 900 block of N. Alamo Road due to a medical call as Levelland EMS was handling multiple calls. Upon arrival, fire personnel began assisting the patient until an EMS unit was available.

8/21/2023 - DISPATCHED 12:27 P.M. - CLEARED 1:12 P.M. LEVELLAND The Levelland Fire Department was dispatched to a residence in the 1800 block of Wilson Street to assist Levelland EMS. Once on scene, the LFD assisted EMS with loading the patient and was transported to the hospital.

8/21/2023 - DISPATCHED 7:50 P.M. - CLEARED 8:08 P.M. LEVELLAND The Levelland Fire Department was dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Elgin Avenue in regard to a report of a gas smell in the area. Fire personnel were unable to located the issue.

8/20/2023 - DISPATCHED 4:14 P.M. - CLEARED 4:23 P.M. LEVELLAND An LPD officer requested the LFD go to Hickory Street and Sherman Avenue and soak down a small area under a swing set where there was a small fire. Once extinguished, fire personnel responded to the same location as wood chips began to smolder. 8/18/2023 DISPATCHED6:30A.M.-CLEARED7:05A.M.-LEVELLAND The LFD received a report of a tank battery on fire near the 700 block of Caribou Road. Fire units found a small amount of grass on fire and extinguished the flames.

8/16/2023 - DISPATCHED 10:37 A.M. - CLEARED 11:30 A.M. -LEVELLAND

The Levelland Fire Department received a call reporting a wreck that had occurred at S. College Avenue and E. Highway 114. Upon arrival, fire personnel found two vehicles had struck one another with EMS and LPD already on scene assisting patients. The LFD assisted EMS with patient packaging and the tow trucks with packaging the wrecked vehicles.

8/16/2023 - DISPATCHED 9:03 A.M. - CLEARED 10:25 A.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The Levelland Fire Department received a call from an owner of a vehicle that the truck was on fire near S. FM 168 and E. FM 1585. While enroute, the LFD had contacted the Smyer Fire Department. Upon arrival, the fire was extinguished and returned to the station once SFD was on scene.

8/15/2023 - DISPATCHED 12:07 P.M. - CLEARED 12:08 LEVELLAND The Levelland Fire Department received a report from dispatch regarding heavy black smoke in near2nd Street and Austin Street. While enroute, fire units were contacted by dispatch after the call was downgraded and canceled.

8/10/2023 – DISPATCHED 7:31 P.M. – CLEARED 8:09 P.M. – LEVELLAND

The Levelland Fire Department received a call in reference to a carbon monoxide detector activation at a residence in the 300 block of Cactus Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel made contact with the homes residents and were informed the smoke and carbon detector was activated for a short period of time and then stopped sounding the alarm. A tri-gas monitor was used throughout the entire home with no detection of carbon monoxide. It was determined there was no signs of smoke inside or outside the residence. The residence was advised to contact an electrician and plumber for a follow-up and to call 911 if any other activations occurred.

8/6/2023 - DISPATCHED 10:12 P.M. - CLEARED 10:32 P.M. LEVELLAND The Levelland Fire Department was dispatched to a residence located near 10th Street and Avenue E in regard to a possible structure fire. Upon arrival, fire personnel discovered a small pit in a backyard. The pit was extinguished before returning to the station.

8/6/2023 - DISPATCHED 3:33 P.M. - CLEARED 5 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The Levelland Fire Department received a call regarding a rekindle on a grassfire near W. Highway 114 and N. FM 303. Fire personnel noticed a few spots smoldering and remained on scene until the spots had been extinguished.

8/6/2023 - DISPATCHED 12:36 P.M. - CLEARED 3:05 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The Levelland Fire Department received reports of a grass fire near W. Highway 114 and N. FM 303. While enroute, fire units requested additional resources as heavy smoke was visible. Upon arrival, units extinguished the fire.

8/5/2023 - DISPATCHED 1:59 P.M. - CLEARED 2:46 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The Levelland Fire Department received a call regarding a pit fire that was out of control near the 1700 block of Avenue X. Once on scene, units extinguished the fire.

8/4/2023 - DISPATCHED 7 P.M. - CLEARED 7:36 P.M. OPDYKE The Levelland Fire Department received a report of a small grass fire near N. Highway 114 at the intersection of N. Barton Lane. Fire personnel extinguished the fire once on scene.

8/3/2023 - DISPATCHED 1:03 P.M. - CLEARED 1:22 P.M. LEVELLAND The Levelland Fire Department received a call regarding a possible carbon monoxide problem at the 300 block of Avenue M. Upon arrival, fire personnel could not detect any carbon monoxide within the area.

8/2/23 - DISPATCHED 9:50 P.M. - CLEARED 10:20 P.M. LEVELLAND The Levelland Fire Department received a call in reference to a gas smell coming from a residence located at the 500 block of E. Jackson Street. Upon arrival, fire personnel checked the residence and area with a Tri-Gas monitor with no indications of any hazardous gas present.

8/2/2023 - DISPATCHED 2:23 P.M. - CLEARED 2:40 P.M. LEVELLAND The Levelland Fire Department received a call in reference to a gas smell coming from the 100 block of Cottonwood Lane. Upon arrival, fire personnel checked the area and no hazardous gas was detected.

8/2/2023 - DISPATCHED 12:08 P.M. - CLEARED 12:30 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The Levelland Fire Department received a call regarding a small grass fire near the intersection of FM 3261 and Robin Road. The caller stated the fire had already been extinguished by a passerby, but requested fire personnel to check for any hot spots. Upon arrival, fire crews found no fire or hot spots.

8/1/2023 - DISPATCHED 3:43 A.M. CLEARED 4:10 A.M. LEVELLAND The Levelland Fire Department was dispatched to a residence located at the 2000 block of Yale Drive in reference to a shaking water heater. Upon arrival, the water heater had been shutdown and fire personnel advised the homeowner to contact a plumber.
