Whiteface sweeps Anton, 60-0

The Whiteface Antelopes held the Anton Bulldogs to minus two total offensive yards during last Friday’s action with a 60-0, half-time win to spoil the Bulldogs homecoming game.

The 45-point mercy rule was invoked at halftime. The rule, used in class 1A 6-man football, states that when one team is ahead by 45 point or more at halftime or after, the game is called.

The Antelopes’ Jeremias Chavez took the opening kick 45 yards for the first score of the game.

Whiteface then ran of 44 unanswered points in the first quarter and another 16 in the second.

Ethan Kauffman had six carries for 132 yards and four touchdowns. Jaxon Heflin had three carries for 37 yards with a fumble. Auscar Gandara had a 29yard touchdown run. Julio Borunda had a 15-yard carry. Damian Castaneda had a six-yard carry and Tyler Campbell had two carries for -11 yards.

The Antelopes only threw one pass all night, a 58-yard touchdown from Kauffman to Jeremiah Rendon.

Chavez had five tackles. Kauffman had four tackles, a sack, and an interception. Gandara had a tackle and two sacks. Noah Rendon had a tackle and a sack. Jeremiah Rendon had a tackle.

Anton’s Gavin Martinez had seven carries for five yards and a fumble, but that was negated by minus 29 yards by the rest of the team.

The Bulldogs fared a little better in the air. Dominic Gaitan went 1-for-6 for 13 yards and an interception. Gavin Martinez went 1-for-2 for five yards. Zian Martinez went 1-for-2 for three yards and Castillo went 1-for-11 for a single yard.

The four Anton receptions were by Jose Avalos for 13 yards. Castillo for five yards. Kendall Matthews for three yards and Gavin Martinez for a yard.

Whiteface will host Wildorado next Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Antelopes beat the Mustangs in Wildorado last year 74-8. This year Wildorado is 1-3 and coming off a 26-22 loss to White Deer.

The Bulldogs will be in Spur on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. game. Spur is 0-4 on the season and coming off a 52-6 road loss to Westbrook.
