Eagles suffer road lose against Bulldogs, 42-36

The Ropes Eagles fell against the Tahoka Bulldogs, 4236 as the away team as they are now 2-3 on the season.

The first quarter was all Ropes as they scored two touchdowns in the first quarter, making the score14-0.

From there, Tahoka was able to respond getting back-to-back touchdowns almost tying up the game at 14-12 due to them not being able to get their PAT to go in.

Ropes was able to score in the second quarter, making the score 21-12, as both teams went into the half.

As the teams came out, the third quarter was all Tahoka as they were able to gain the lead for the first time in the game by scoring two touchdowns and making the score 28-21.

The fourth quarter was a nail bitter as the Eagles were able to get on the board and tying the game at 28-28. Neither team budged the rest of the quarter so the game went into overtime.

In overtime both teams scored making the game, 36-36, but the Eagles were not able to hang on as the Bulldogs scored and got the stop on the Eagles making it a close one.

In the game, the Eagles had a well balanced attack on offense as they had 260 passing yards and 105 rushing yards with both teams being even at 18 first downs in the game.

Defensively, the team allowed 108 passing yards but couldnt stop the run as they allowed 350 rushing yards.

The leading receiver for Ropes was Branson Beck with five receptions for 103 yards and his longest of the night was a catch that went for 45 yards on the night. Colton Mortensen was the second receiver on the night with four catches for 45 yards, but he was able to rack up two touchdowns along with those catches. Reese Williams and Kaden Riker were both able to catch a touchdown on the night as well, making the receiving core having most of the touchdowns on the night.

The only rushing touchdown of the night came from Beck who had two attempts to carry the ball as he had 14 yards on the night.

Quarterback Kade Franklin had a good game with the team, he was able to throw for four touchdowns on the night along with 260 yards for the night. He also threw two interceptions.

Ben Saldivar had eight rushing attempts on the night that went for 61 yards on the night and his longest run of the night was a big chunk as he busted open a 42-yard run. His teammates were able to help lighten the load as Bregg Feldman carried the ball for eight times as well and had a decent 22 yards on the night. Jacob Wyatt had four attempts with eight yards on the night and his teammate Branson Beck had two attempts with 14 yards on the night and one touchdown.

Defensively, the leading tackler on the team was Beck as he had 10 solo tackles and 14 assists with one being a tackle for loss. His teammates all had good games as well as Kolter Dockery had six tackles and 12 assists on the night and Mike Sanchez had six tackles and seven assists on the night with two tackles for a loss. The only interception on the night came from Kolter Dockery and the team had two sacks on the night coming from players Kaden Riker and Braxxin Partington. The team was also able to force two fumbles on the night with one coming from Mike Sanchez and the other coming from Kanon Buckner.
