The Levelland Lobos traveled to San Angelo to faceoff against the Chiefs where they picked up their second win of the season, 32-13.
It was the Lake View Chiefs homecoming game against the Levelland Lobos so for them it was a must-win game for the crowd. But the Lobos came into the game swinging as they had two touchdowns in the first quarter.
The Levelland defense was able to force four turnovers throughout the game due to their impressive secondary and their solid defensive line that was able to pressure the quarterback and get them to make some questionable decisions. The team was able to get two interceptions and the special teams were able to force an error as well as they recovered a muffed punt that the returner messed up on.
The last turnover of the night came when the Chiefs were able to drive down the field but they fumbled in the redzone and the defense was able to capatalize on due to their quickness in every position that they have.
The Lobo’s offense was on fire as they earned 437 yards of total offense. Levelland’s quarterback Boston Winfield threw for 157 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions throughout the game. The run game for the Lobos were amazing as they had five different running backs go for a total of 280 yards throughout the game.
Ricky Rodriguez of the Lobos had 101 yards on 13 attempts while Rusty Johnson had nine attempts that went for 63 yards. Jake Potter was able to carry the ball a little as he had eight carries that went for 53 yards, Kaden Brogden had 43 yards off of three carries and finally Kysen Niblett had 14 yards off of six carries.
Receiving for the Lobos a couple of players stepped up such as Gage Potter who had three grabs for 49 yards, Kaden Brogden had two catches for 48 yards and Sean Landrum who had grabbed three balls for 24 yards on the night.
Penalty wise it was rough as Levelland had 12 penalties for 120 yards and Lake View had five flags that went for 50 yards.
The Levelland Lobos improved to 2-3 on the season with this win, and they have a tough team to play as they host the 4-1 Dalhart Wolves as they are coming off of their first loss of the season to Borger in a nailbitter with a score of 41-38. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Lobo Stadium.
