Levelland Fire Report

11/30/2023 – DISPATCHED 7:04 A.M. – CLEARED 9 A.M. – LEVELLAND

Police dispatch notified the LFD of a wreck that included injuries at the intersection of Alamo Road and E. Highway 114. Upon arrival, fire personnel identified a multi-vehicle wreck and were assigned to assisting with patient packaging. Fire units remained on standby until wreckers arrived and assisted with cleanup.

11/27/2023 – DISPATCHED 9 P.M. – CLEARED 9:25 P.M. – LEVELLAND

Fire units responded to a call for a smell of gas near the 700 block of Poplar Street. Fire personnel checked the area but were unable to locate any sign of gas.

11/25/2023 - DISPATCHED 4:59 P.M. - CLEARED 6:43 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD responded to a grass fire near the intersection of FM 1409 and Jamaica Road. Upon arrival, fire units discovered a downed power line arcing on the ground in a small area of grass. The fire was no longer burning upon arrival. Lamb County Electric was notified and responded to the location.

11/25/2023 - DISPATCHED 3:10 P.M. - CLEARED 4:19 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD responded to a possible gas leak in the 200 block of Badger. Levelland PD advised contact was made with Atmos Energy and would be responding with an unknown ETA. Upon arrival, fire crew found a natural gas leak near the intersection of Ellis and Badger. Contact was re-established with Atmos Energy.

11/22/2023 - DISPATCHED 10:36 P.M. - CLEARED 10:50 P.M.-LEVELLAND

The LFD received a call in reference to a controlled burn in the 1400 block of 3rd Street. Dispatch advised the fire had been extinguished upon arrival of a LPD officer. Upon arrival, fire crews found no hotspots needing further extinguishment.

11/18/2023 - DISPATCHED 5:16 P.M. - CLEARED 5:27 P.M. LEVELLAND A homeowner in the 300 block of E. Ellis Street requested fire units to check her house. Fire personnel located a burner that was left on and a gas smell. The house was checked for additional hazards before returning to the station.

11/18/2023 - DISPATCHED 2:03 P.M. - CLEARED 2:18 P.M. LEVELLAND Fire personnel responded to a request for medical assistance by Levelland EMS at the 100 block of Elgin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire units checked the patients status while EMS was enroute.

11/15/2023 – DISPATCHED 8:48 A.M. – CLEARED 9:03 A.M. –LEVELLAND

Levelland EMS requested the assistance of the LFD at a residence within the 900 block of Avenue E in reference to forcing a door open. Upon arrival, no one was located at the residence. LPD personnel checked the house but could not find anyone. Fire personnel returned to the station as a result.

11/13/2023 - DISPATCHED 1:30 P.M. - CLEARED 2:15 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD received reports of cotton bales burning near S. FM 168 and Steer Road. After fire personnel arrived on scene, contact was made and the group was advised to let the bales burn.

11/10/2023 - DISPATCHED 9 A.M. - CLEARED 9:22 A.M. LEVELLAND An LFD crew was dispatched to Baker Hall at South Plains College in reference to a fire alarm. Upon arrival, there was no smoke or fire showing. Fire personnel made contact with campus police and were advised a student was cooking and set off the alarm. The area was cleared before returning to the station.

11/8/2023 - DISPATCHED 12:13 P.M. - CLEARED 2 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD received a call reporting a rekindle from a fire that took place earlier in the week near W. FM 597 and Cheyenne Road. Upon arrival, the fire crew found a backhoe moving debris which rekindled the fire. The fire was extinguished and a light coat of Class A foam was applied before returning to the station.

11/7/2023 - DISPATCHED 8:28 P.M. - CLEARED 8:45 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received reports of smoke in the area of 10th Street and Avenue H. Upon arrival, fire personnel were unable to locate any possible locations. After scanning the area, the fire crew returned to the station.

11/6/2023 - DISPATCHED 4:27 P.M. - CLEARED 8:03 P.M. LEVELLAND LFD personnel responded to the 1400 block of 2nd Street in regard to a gas leak. The crew responding to the call remained on scene while Atmos Energy made the necessary repairs.

11/6/2023 - DISPATCHED 2:13 P.M. - CLEARED 2:19 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD responded to a CO detector alarm fire in the 800 block of Avenue F. Upon arrival, fire personnel checked the area but did not detect any gas.

11/6/2023 - DISPATCHED 1:57 P.M. - CLEARED 8:23 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY Multiple fire crews with the LFD responded to FM 597 and Cheyenne Road in regard to a grass fire. Upon arrival, aid from the county and the state were requested to help extinguish the head of the fire.

11/5/2023 - DISPATCHED 5:47 P.M. - CLEARED 6:50 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a call reporting there was a gas spill from a broken nozzle at the Petro Products Station. Upon arrival, there was roughly three to five gallons spilled on the ground. Fire personnel used a microblazout and kitty litter to make it safe and help soak up the fuel. The crew remained on scene until the fuel station representative arrived.

11/4/2023 - DISPATCHED 7:52 P.M. - CLEARED 8:01 P.M. LEVELLAND A fire crew with the LFD responded to a residence within the 500 block of Maple Street due to an malfunctioning alarm. The crew made contact with someone on site.
