Local Hockley County students present Frozen Jr.

The Wallace Theater in partnership with Horizon School of the Arts are set to unveil the youth production of “Frozen Jr.” – A Magical Theatrical Experience!

Slated for January 4-7 at the Helen Devitt Jones Theater at the South Plains College Fine Arts Building in Levelland, the cast and crew will be putting together five showings.

A press release provided by the Wallace Theater states, “Brace yourselves for an awe-inspiring collaboration as The Wallace Theater joins forces with the Horizon School of the Arts to present a spellbinding rendition of “Frozen Jr.” This exceptional youth production, based on the acclaimed 2018 Broadway musical, invites audiences to delve into the enchanting world of Elsa, Anna, and the captivating realm of Arendelle.”

“The show, “Frozen Jr.” encapsulates the essence of sisterly love and acceptance, expounding upon the profound relationship between Princesses Anna and Elsa. Set to the iconic melodies composed by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, along with five new enchanting songs crafted specifically for the Broadway adaptation, this production promises a magical experience for theater enthusiasts of all ages.”

Jen Cagle Gillmore, Education Coordinator for The Wallace Theater expressed, “Many times while watching rehearsal, I have to remind myself that these students are 14-18 years old. They are so incredibly talented and I am thrilled to create access and exposure to theatre arts in Hockley County. I’ve known Travis Burge, Horizon’s Artistic Director, since he was a high school student. It’s really wonderful to see him living in his element and us working together as adults.”

Executive Director for The Wallace Theater, Alycyn Keeling shared, “The Wallace is proud to partner with Horizons School of the Arts and their outstanding history of arts education to bring this family production to Hockley County. It is a dream come true to be hosting a production that will create an opportunity for families to create special memories, enjoy the arts in our hometown, and for Hockley County Students to have more access to theatre arts education.”

The production of Frozen Jr. is made possible by a grant of $1,500 from The Hockley County Endowment to support arts education and family activities in Hockley County. The Wallace shared their appreciation of the partnership with South Plains College Fine Arts Department to use their facility to host this event in Levelland.

Led by an ensemble of gifted young performers from Horizon School of the Arts, including six Hockley County Students the cast features a lineup of talented stars embodying beloved characters: The Ice Cast includes Anna Brugel as Elsa and Maryn Sanders as Anna. The Snow Cast includes Lizzie Corlet as Elsa and Brooklyn Honea as Anna. Additional cast for both Ice and Snow include: Adelyn Barrett as Young Elsa, Lila Fowler as Young Anna, Eliseo Espinoza as Kristoff, Kaden Owen as King Agnarr, Camryn Gamblin as Queen Iduna, Jillian Gamblin as Pabbie, Annika Quirno as Bulda, Lahna Gabel as Sven, Watson Evans as Hans, Kylan May as Wesleton, Jeremiah Coronado as Olaf and Hannah Wilde-Jones as Oaken.

Ensemble for the showings include: Townspeople, Anna Bruegel, Maryn Sanders, Kylan May, Brooklyn Honea, Adelynn Barrett, Zoey Snider, Kaden Owen, Abigail Blanco (18), Annika Quirino, Lizzie Corley, Jillian Gamblin, Lila Fowler, Hannah Wilde-Jones, Jeremiah Coronado, Eliseo Espinoza, Watson Evans, Camryn Gamblin The Snow Chorus includes: Kaden Owen, Annika Quirino, Jillian Gamblin, Lila Fowler, Adelynn Barrett and Camryn Gamblin. The Hidden Folk include: Kaden Owen, Annika Quirino, Lizzie Corley, Anna Bruegel, Jillian Gamblin, Lila Fowler, Adelynn Barrett, Camryn Gamblin, Brooklyn Honea and Maryn Sanders Castle Staff include: Abigail Blanco, Jillian Gamblin, Annika Quirino and Zoey Snider. Additional staff include: Abigail Blanco as the housekeeper, Jillian Gamblin as the butler, Abigail Blanco as the handmaiden, Annika Quirno as the cook and Zoey Snider as the steward.

The Summer Chorus includes: Kaden Owen, Annika Quirino, Jillian Gamblin, Lila Fowler, Adelynn Barrett and Camryn Gamblin. Oaken’s Family will be played by Lila Fowler and Adelynn Barrett.

The production team includes: Directors, Chase Gibson and Travis Burge; Music Director, Annie Burge; Choreographer, Savannah Rhodes; Stage Manager, Missy Brinson; Technical Direction, Scenic & Lighting Design, Zac Goin; Costume Designer, Diane Bancroft and Patti Campbell; Sound Design, Jordan Wood; and HMU Design, Breanna Marler.

Tickets for this magical journey are priced as follows: General Admission Adult: $15; General Admission Child, four-year-olds through 12-yearolds: $10; and Children three-year-old and under are free.
