Loboettes stay undefeated in district play

The Levelland Loboettes continued their district dominance on the road as they blow out the Sweetwater Lady Mustangs Friday, 61-23.

Living by the three-point shot, the Loboettes opened the first quarter with a 15-7 run. The Levelland offensive attack would tack on another 15 points in the second quarter to hit the 30-mark. The Loboette defense would continue to overwhelm the Lady Mustands allowing only eight points before halftime.

While the Loboettes limited the Sweetwater offensive production in the first half, Levelland Loboette Head Coach Clay Barnett and his squad would return to the court in the second half with a few defensive adjustments and remained physical resulting in the Lady Mustangs to show visible frustration trying to create efficient ball movement and create open looks.

Offensively, the Loboettes have continued their tradition of taking advantage of fast-break opportunities and getting players in position to hit momentum creating three-pointers from various spots around the arch.

The Loboettes would muster 21 points over Sweetwater’s three points in the third quarter. Levelland continued their dominant performance defensively limiting the Lady Mustangs to five points.

Loboette Olivia Velardez led the offensive with 20 points after sinking four 3-pointers. Carly Tienda would add 12 points thanks to two three-pointers. Maddison Stafford would record nine points all from the threepoint-line, eight points for the offensive threat in Emery Smith, four points from Lelani Sanchez, three points each from Mia Morin and Presley Smith, and two points from Sydnii Joyce.

The Loboettes advance to 25-2 on the year with a district record of 3-0, while the Lady Mustangs fall to 14-9 on the year and 1-2 in district.

The teams next contest will have them traveling to Big Spring to take on the Steers at 6:15 p.m.
