The Sundown Roughettes hosted the Plains Cowgirls this past Tuesday where they lost 50- 44.
The first quarter of the game was a close one as both teams were able to get 10 points to go, heading into the second quarter all tied up.
For the second quarter of play Sundown found their rythme as they lit Plains up for 15 points while only allowing them to get 12 of their own.
Heading into the halftime break Sundown led 25-22 in a close game.
Leading the Roughettes in scoring at the half was Allie McCormick as she had 13 points at the half, 12 of them coming from inside the paint.
Going into the third quarter of play Sundown came out flatfooted as they allowed Plains to outscore them 14-to-7 to take the lead going into the fourth quarter of play.
With the score sitting at 36- 32 in a close game going into the fourth, Sundown wasn’t able to catch fire in the fourth as Plains kept the lead away from the Roughettes in their close district win.
McCormick led the team in scoring being the only one in double digits as she had 29 points throughout the night, 26 of her points coming from inside the paint.
Yaya Lopez finished with eight, Hannah Holdman had four, Kyndal Taggart had two and Camry Jourden finished with one in the teams loss.
The Roughettes fall to 14-12 on the season while going 4-3 in district play sitting in third place in their district behind only Plains and New Home.
The teams next game will be against the Post Lady Antelopes at home this Tuesday at 6 p.m.
