Levelland Fire Report

2/21/2024 - DISPATCHED 1:40 P.M. - CLEARED 2:20 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD received a call in regard to a backhoe on fire near the intersection of N. FM 168 and Kansas Road. Dispatch advised that the Anton and Smyer Volunteer Fire Departments were both paged twice with no response. Dispatch requested the LFD respond to the location. While enroute, Anton fire personnel advised the LFD through two-way radio they were responding to the call and could cancel the respone.

2/20/2024 - DISPATCHED 3:50 P.M. - CLEARED 4:47 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNY Request for mutual aid was made by the Sundown Fire Department near FM 301 and Black Gold Road. Upon arrival, the fire was extinguished and personnel were focusing on hot spots. The LFD assisted Sundown personnel before clearing the scene.

2/20/2024 - DISPATCHED 1:19 P.M. - CLEARED 2:23 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD was dispatched to a fertilizer spreader that had caught fire near FM 1294 and El Paso Road. Upon arrival, there was no fire present. Fire personnel soaked the spreader in efforts to prevent any rekindling. Once the spreader was soaked, all personnel returned to the station.

2/20/2024 - DISPATCHED 11:23 A.M. - CLEARED 11:56 P.M. -HOCKLEYCOUNTY

The LFD was dispatched to a small grass fire south of the intersection of Cactus Road and Barton Lane. Fire personnel found small pallets on the ground smoldering. The crew covered the pallets and extinguished all hot spots before returning to the station.

2/15/2024 - DISPATCHED 12:58 P.M. - CLEARED 1:50 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD received a call in reference to a carbon monoxide detector activation in the 200 block of Lincoln in Smyer. Dispatch advised that Smyer Volunteer Fire Department had been paged twice with no response. A LFD unit made contact at the residence and did not find any sign of carbon monoxide.

2/10/2024 - DISPATCHED 1:55 P.M. - CLEARED 4:35 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a report of a house fire in the 1200 block of Avenue J. Upon arrival, a storage building was on fire in the rear of the residence. The fire was extinguished and personnel remained on scene until there was no longer a threat.

2/10/2024 - DISPATCHED 4:50 A.M. - CLEARED 6 P.M. LEVELLAND The fire department received a call of a standoff near College Avenue and 13th Street. LPD advised the LFD to assist with blocking traffic and conducting traffic control.

2/10/2024 - DISPATCHED 1:28 A.M. - CLEARED 3 A.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a report of a structure fire within the 300 block of Avenue I. Fire personnel found smoke coming from the front door of the residence. The unit was able to gain entry through the front of the residence and extinguish the fire in the living room.

2/8/2024 - DISPATCHED 10:55 P.M. - CLEARED 11:20 A.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a call in reference to light smoke in a dorm room located the Gerstenberger Hall at the Levelland SPC campus. Campus police requested the LFD do a status check. All students had been evacuated from the building with no active fire alarms being audible. The building was eventually deemed clear and safe.

2/8/2024 - DISPATCHED 8:18 P.M. - CLEARED 9:05 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD received a call for assistance in reference to a motor vehicle accident with injuries located in the 4000 block of S. Highway 385. Upon arrival, patients were already being transported by EMS with Sundown Volunteer Fire Department and Brownfield EMS already on scene.

2/7/2024 - DISPATCHED 6:33 P.M. - CLEARED 8:33 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The Littlefield Fire Department requested the assistance of the LFD regarding a grass fire in Lamb County located near N. Highway 385 and N. 194.

2/5/2024 - DISPATCHED 2:59 P.M. - CLEARED 3:20 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a call in reference to a gas smell near a heat in a residence located in the 700 block of 17th Street. Upon arrival, fire personnel found no detection of natural gas inside the residence.

2/3/2024 - DISPATCHED 2:34 P.M. - CLEARED 2:54 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a call of a structure fire in the 100 block of Hickory Street. Fire personnel found a pile of leaves and twigs on fire. After visiting with the resident, they advised they were cutting down trees and embers may have started. The fire was extinguished.

2/3/2024 - DISPATCHED 8:45 A.M. - CLEARED 9:10 A.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a call regarding a fire near N. Avenue H and W. Ellis Street. Fire personnel discovered a pit fire burning. The fire was extinguished before returning to the station.

2/2/2024 - DISPATCHED 9:51 P.M. - CLEARED 10:06 P.M. LEVELLANd The LFD was contacted in reference to a vehicle striking an electrical pole with possible electrical line down at the 1200 block of Avenue H. Upon arrival, it was determined that no electrical lines were involved and only cable lines were down.

2/1/2024 - DISPATCHED 2:51 P.M. - CLEARED 3:51 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD responded to a call of a controlled burn that was out of control near the 100 block of Lakeview Road. It was determined that a lawn fire had spread into the home of the property. Fire units extinguished the fire and began working on the residence. It was further determined that the fire was not located in the house but under it. The fire was extinguished then personnel began salvage and overhaul to determine the spread of the fire.
