Following the 2024 March Primary Election, multiple runoff elections will be set for May 28.
Hockley County Sheriff election:
Jared W. Dockery with 1,500 votes;
Chris Wischkaemper with 1,440 votes; and
Joseph (Jody) Guerra with 250 votes.
The sheriff’s race will be going to a runoff.
Hockley County Commissioner Precinct 1 election:
Alan Wisdom with 610 votes;
Curtis Thrash with 447 votes; and
David Atkinson with 221 votes.
The commissioners race will be going into a runoff.
Hockley County Tax Assessor Collector election:
Misty D. Taylor with 1,792 votes; and
Crystal Forster with 1,140 votes.
The 286th Judicial District Attorney election in Hockley County:
Donnie Yandell with 1,888 votes; and
Angela Overman with 1,250 votes.
Both Hockley County and Cochran County votes go into the race for 286th Judicial District Attorney as the position serves both counties.
The 286th Judicial District Attorney election in Cochran County:
Donnie Yandell with 253 votes; and
Angela Overman with 124 votes.
Cochran County Commissioner Precinct 3 election:
Kris Brown with 55 votes;
Sammy Garza with 44 votes;
Eric Silhan with 41 votes; and
Larry Bihl with 25 votes.
The commissioner race will be going into a runoff.
In the Republican President election, Donald J. Trump won in Hockley County with 2,722 votes and in Cochran County with 331.
In the Republican U.S. Senator election Ted Cruz won in Hockley County with 2,919 votes and in Cochran County with 331 votes.
In the Republican U.S. Representative of District 19 election, Jodey C. Arrington won in Hockley County with 2,759 votes and in Cochran County with 318.
In the Republican State Representative of District 88 election, Ken King won in Hockley County with 2,294 votes and in Cochran County with 247 votes.
In the Democratic President election, Joseph R. Biden Jr., won in Hockley County with 111 votes and in Cochran County with 14 votes.
In the Democratic U.S. Senator election, Colin Allred earned the most votes with 50, but will go to a runoff. In Cochran County, Allred earned one vote and Meri Gomez earned two votes to push to a runoff.
