Sundown Theatre contest set for April 27

Sundown Roughneck Theatre’s The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong is advancing to Region 1 Conference AA Contest held at Canyon Randall High School on April 27, 2024. This is the fourth level of contest in the Texas UIL One-Act Play competition and places Roughneck Theatre in the top 24 plays in the state.

Based on the West End and Broadway hit The Play That Goes Wrong, The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong was created and written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields and is published by Dramatists Play Service, Inc. In this classic murder mystery, there has been an untimely death at a country manor, where everyone is a suspect, and an inspector is set on the case to find the culprit. However, when this play is performed by the accident-prone thespians of The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society, everything that can go wrong…does! The actors and crew battle against all odds to make it through, with hilarious consequences.

Members of the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society are Kaytlin Clausen as Annie the stage manager and Watson Evans as director Chris Bean who also plays the Inspector. Easton Smith is Jonathan who plays the murdered Charles Haversham. Peyton Richardson is Charles who plays Thomas Colleymoore, Alana Ledesma is Sandra who plays Florence Colleymoore, and Riley Driver is Dennis who plays Perkins, the butler. Caleb Clausen is Max who plays Cecil Haversham and Silverina Pando is Trevor, the sound and light technician. The Drama Society’s crew is played by Carrigan Dietz, Ryder Stanley, Cooper Rogers, Emily Rodgers, and Joclyn Baeza.

The technical crew consists of Katy Townsend, stage manager; Roxy Mendoza, assistant stage manager; Jlyssa Aleman, sound engineer; and Meghan Stephens, Mariah Stephens, and Rolando Rivera on lights. Alternates are Brooklyn Keesler, Lincoln Keesler, and Janessa Cruz.
