Hockley County grand jury returns indictments

The 286th Judicial District Attorney’s Office announced that a Hockley County Grand Jury convened on April 25, and considered cases against 18 individuals.

After presentations by the District Attorney’s Office and law enforcement, the Grand Jury returned 16 indictments.

Dylan Wayne Boling, 35, was charged with Possession of Child Pornography, Invasive Visual Recording of a Bathroom or Dress Room and Voyeurism: Victim under 14-years-of-age. Bond was issued in an amount of $50,000.

On or about December 17, 2023, Boling knowingly possessed visual material that visually depicted a child who was younger than 18-years-of-age at the time the image of the child was made, engaging in sexual conduct.

A second count states on or about January 11, Boling with the intent to invade the privacy of a female individual without their consent by electronically recording a visual image of the female individuals breasts and, or pubic area while in the bathroom where the female individual had a reasonable expectation of privacy.

A third count states on or about November 31, 2023, the defendant with the intent to arouse and gratify the sexual desire of the defendant observed a female individual, a child younger than 14 years of age without the female individual’s consent while the female individual was in a dwelling which the female individual had a reasonable expectation of privacy.

Oscar Isidro Jacquez, 19, was charged with Attempted Burglary of Habitation and Abandon, Endanger Child Individual Imminent Danger, Bodily Injury. Bond was issued in an amount of $15,000.

On or about February 23, Jacquez had the intent to commit the burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony, namely break a window.

A second count states the defendant knowingly engaged in conduct that placed a child younger than 15-years-of-age in imminent danger of death, bodily injury or physical or mental impairment. The defendant grabbed the child and began pulling the child through broken glass while the defendant was armed with a knife. Additionally, the defendant did not voluntarily deliver the child to a designated emergency infant care provided under the Texas Family Code.

Skyler Vernon Stockton, 30, was charged with the Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. Bond was issued in an amount of $100,000.

On or about September 25, 2023, Stockton knowingly caused the penetration of the sexual organ of a child who was younger than 14-years-of-age.

Ernest Sustaita, 27, was charged with Aggravated Assault, Threat with a Deadly Weapon. Bond was issued in an amount of $12,000.

On or about January 20, the defendant knowingly threatened an individual with imminent bodily injury by rushing toward the individual with a know and or chasing the individual with a knife during the commission of the offense.

Tony Ray Cornish, 35, was charged with the Theft of Property less than $2,500 with two or more previous convictions. Bond was issued in an amount of $5,000.

On or about January 25, Cornish unlawfully appropriated a bag of money with a value less than $2,500 from an individual. It was further presented that the defendant had been convicted twin on May 27, 2020 in the 286th Judicial District Court of Hockley County for a similar offense and on April 12, 2022.

Miguel Angel Medrano, 18, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group Two, less than one gram DFZ IAT and Attempted Tamper, Fabricate Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair. Bond was issued in an amount of $2,500.

On or about October 18, 2023, Medrano knowingly possessed a controlled substance namely tetrahydrocannabinol (Delta-9) in an amount less than one gram. It was further presented that the offense was committed within 1,000 feet of property owned by Levelland Independent School District.

A second count states the defendant committed the offense of tampering or fabricating physical evidence with the intent to impair by tossing or throwing a vape cart in the direction of another vehicle.

Erica Gonzalez Martinez, 45, was charged with the Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group One 1-B, less than one gram. Bond was issued in an amount of $5,000.

On or about February 16, 2023, Martinez knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely cocaine in an amount of less than one gram.

Joshua Lenn Burnett, 38, was charged with Terroristic Threat Against a Peace Officer. Bond was issued in an amount of $10,000.

On or about January 30, Burnett threatened to commit an offense involving violence by wielding a knife while threatening that he would charge any police officer who came after the defendant. It was further presented that the defendant used or exhibited a knife as a deadly weapon during the commission of the offense.

Joshua Lenn Burnett, 30, was charged with Indecency with Child Sexual Contact. Bond was issued in an amount of $50,000.

On or about January 20, the defendant with the intent to arouse and gratify the sexual desire of the defendant engaged in sexual contact with a child younger than 17-years-of-age.

Marco Antonio Ramirez, 37, was charged with Continues Violence Against the Family. Bond was issued in an amount of $5,000.

On or about February 21, Ramirez knowingly caused bodily injury to a person with whom the defendant has or has had a dating relationship by striking her in the face and or head with a closed fist. On or about April 18, 2023, the defendant knowingly caused bodily injury to a person with whom the defendant has or has had a dating relationship by hitting her in the face with his hand and or pushing her to the floor.

On or about December 26, 2022, the defendant knowingly caused bodily injury to a person with whom the defendant has or has had a dating relationship by striking her in the head or face with a closed fist. The conduct of the defendant occurred during a period that was 12 months or less in duration.

Michael Elliot, 42, was charged with Injury to a Child, Elderly or Disables with intent of Bodily Injury. Bond was issued in an amount of $5,500.

On or about January 13, Elliot knowingly caused bodily injury to an individual 65-years-of-age or older by hitting the individual with his hand and or by wrestling the individual causing the individual to fall to the ground.

Billy Leland Baigen Jr., 18, was charged with Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon. Bond was issued in an amount of $5,000.

On or about November 23, 2023, Baigen Jr., knowingly caused bodily injury to an individual by shooting the complainant with a fire arm. The defendant used a deadly weapon, namely a firearm during the commission of the assault.

Jeffery Zion Rodriguez, 18, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group One 1-B, less than one gram DFZ IAT. Bond was issued in an amount of $20,000.

On or about September 12, 2023, Rodriguez knowingly delivered by actual transfer to an individual, fentanyl in an amount less than one gram. Additionally, the defendant committed the offense within 1,000 feet of Sundown ISD.

Gaspar Chavez, 40, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group One 1-B, less than one gram. Bond was issued in an amount of $2,500.

On or about October 1, 2023, Chavez knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely cocaine in an amount less than one gram.

Leonardo Martinez, 48, was charged with Harassment of Public Servant. Bond was issued in an amount of $10,000.

On or about January 11, Martinez with the intent to assault, harass Hockley County Jail Correctional Officer, to contact the saliva of the defendant as the complainant was distributing medications and or off to jail inmates.
