Hockley Commissioners set regular meeting Mon.

The Hockley County Commissioners Court will be holding a regular meeting Monday, May 20, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Hockley County Courthouse.

Agenda items include: - Read for approval the minutes of the special meeting held May 13; - Read for approval all monthly bills and claims submitted to the court and dated through May 20; - Consider and take necessary action to Nunc Pro Tunc item four from the agenda for May 6, that is shown in the minutes from the special meeting of the commissioners court to read as follows: Discussion and potential action concerning the four applications submitted by the Levelland Main Street Program requesting use of the courthouse lawn for the following events on the date specified: Run the Mosaics 1M, 2M and 10K Race - June 8, 2024 Trunk or Treat - October 31, 2024 Ladies Night Out - November 14, 2024 Festival of Lights – Christmas on the Square – December 5, 2024; - Consider and take necessary action to approve the monthly reports due as per 114.044 Local Government Code as submitted by the Hockley County District Clerk, Hockley County Clerk, Hockley County Auditor and Justice of the Peace Precincts 1, 2, 4 and 5; - Discussion and potential action concerning the request of Angela Overman, Hockley County District Attorney to approve an Agreement with Barron Slack, Attorney at Law, for assistance to prosecute Cause No. 21-09-10115, styled “The State of Texas vs. Omar Soto-Chavira”, a case pending in the 286th Judicial District Court of Hockley County, Texas, in the sum of $300,000.00 to be paid through the County Essential Services Grant Program.

- Discussion and potential action concerning the request of Angela Overman, Hockley County District Attorney to approve an Agreement with Wade Jackson, Attorney at Law, for assistance to prosecute Cause No. 21-09-10115, styled “The State of Texas vs. Omar Soto-Chavira”, a case pending in the 286th Judicial District Court of Hockley County, Texas, in the sum of $125,000.00 to be paid through the County Essential Services Grant Program.

- Discussion and potential action to approve the discretionary exemption of the expert witnesses that will be called for Cause No. 21-09-10115, styled “The State of Texas vs. Omar Soto-Chavira”, a case pending in the 286th Judicial District Court of Hockley County, Texas, which will be paid through the County Essential Services Grant Program.
