Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar sent cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for May, 0.4% more than in May 2023.
These allocations are based on sales made in March by businesses that report tax monthly and sales made in January, February and March by quarterly filers.
Cities received $788.7 million for May allocations which is a 0.3% increase from May 2023 and a 1.5% increase in the year-todate change.
Transit Systems received $258.7 million for May allocations which is a 1.1% increase from May 2023 and a 1.4% increase in the year-to-date change.
Counties received $74.2 million for May allocations which is a 2.6 decrease from May 2023 and a 0.7% increase in the yearto- date change.
Special Purpose Districts received $117 million for May 2024 allocations which is a 2% increase from May 2023 and a 4% increase in the year-to-date change.
The May sales tax payment received for Levelland totaled $412,147.12, a decrease of 10.40% over the $461,147.38 received in May 2023.
The current year-to-date payment has totaled roughly $1.99 million which is a 7.37% decrease from the prior year-todate total of $2,150,850.72.
The May sales tax payment received for Sundown totaled $40,908.87, a decrease of 25.23% over the $54,715.46 received in May 2023.
The current year-to-date payment has totaled $184,056.38 which is a 16.78% decrease from the prior year-to-date total of $221,180.60.
The May sales tax payment received for Smyer totaled $5,931.76, an 8.85% increase over the $5,499.15 received in May 2023.
The current year-to-date payment has totaled $30,515.24 which is a 16.50% increase of the prior year-to-date total of $26,191.10.
The May sales tax payment received for Ropesville totaled $11,650.39, an increase of 9.45% over the $10,644.31 received in May 2023.
The current year-to-date payment has totaled $58,216.06 which is a 5.71% decrease from the prior year-to-date total of $61,743.36.
The May sales tax payment received for Anton totaled $10,879.22, a 2.28% increase of the $10,636.17 received in May 2023.
The current year-to-date payment has totaled $49,044.61 which is a 1.12% increase from the prior year-to-date total of $48,496.77.
The May sales tax payment received for Opdyke West totaled $390.16, a 40.26% increase over the $278.16 received in May 2023.
The current year-to-date payment has totaled $2,082.05 which is a 10.19% increase from the prior year-to-date total of $1,889.48.
The May sales tax payment received for Morton totaled $12,956.30 a 11.47% decrease over the $14,635.78 received in May 2023.
The current year-to-date payment has totaled $63,745.64 which is a 3.50% decrease from the prior year-to-date total of $66,058.81.
The May sales tax payment received for Whiteface totaled $3,034.68, a 5% decrease over the $3,194.42 received in May 2023. The current year-to-date payment has totaled $15,260.12 which is a 3.94% increase from the prior year-to-date total of $14,681.65.
